PASTOR'S UPDATE MAY 30, 2025
Pastor's Update - May 30, 2025
Hello, Friendship Family!
It’s been a little while since I’ve recorded one of these video updates, and I want to say how good it is to be back with you in this format. Thank you for giving me just a few moments of your time as we step into a new month—together.
Let me start by saying this: May was a full month. A busy month. A blessed month.
We don’t have time today to rehearse all that took place, but I do want to pause and say— to God be the glory for His continued faithfulness.
By His grace, Friendship celebrated 61 years of ministry this month. That’s 61 years of walking by faith, 61 years of preaching Christ, discipling believers, serving the community, and standing on God’s promises. We’ve come this far not by luck, not by chance, not by ease—but by fortitude, resilience, and faith in a God who still leads His people.
The Bible reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Friendship—God’s not done with us yet. We are still advancing and expanding for His glory alone!
Speaking of milestones—I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the incredible support you have shown to Lady Karima and me as we recently completed our doctoral degrees. Your support has been nothing short of instrumental and monumental.
You have been instrumental—through your prayers that strengthened us, your encouragement that uplifted us, and your love that surrounded us.
You have been monumental—through your generosity in gifts and kind words, and your consistent presence as our church family through this season of stretching, studying, and striving.
We share this moment with you because we could not have done it without you. Thank you!
Now, as we leave May behind, we turn our focus to the end of the school year and all that comes with the start of summer.

HIGH CHURCH SERVICE - FIRST SUNDAY
This coming Sunday is the first Sunday in June, which means it’s High Church Sunday here at Friendship. That means we invite our Deacons, Deaconess, and Mothers to serve in their official capacities, Communion will be served in traditional order, and we’ll worship in a spirit of excellence and reverence as we begin the month. We will also celebrate our June birthdays and wedding anniversaries.
For those of you joining us on line, check out the communion instructions so you can observe communion virtually HERE.
And remember: Communion is for believers. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, we ask that you refrain from partaking—this is a biblical instruction.

WOMEN'S VIRTUAL FELLOWSHIP
Kingdom Women – Join us for our Virtual Women’s Ministry Monthly Fellowship on Friday, June 20th at 7:00 p.m. Our guest, Sis. Yolanda Duncan, will teach on God’s Callings Are His Enablings based upon the book Now and Not Yet: Pressing in When You’re Waiting, Wanting, and Restless for More by Ruth Chou Simons. Ruth writes,
"Do you find yourself measuring your ability to step into your callings with metrics like popularity, approval, resources, and natural giftedness? Are you tempted to feel called when your strengths are on display and not called when it’s your weaknesses showing through instead? God was accomplishing a specific plan with a specific purpose in his promise to Abraham and his provision for him, and God’s character remains the same as we walk with him today. He is still the God who proves himself trustworthy. He is still the God who calls us to more than we can handle on our own so that we’ll know his faithfulness more fully. He is still the God who provides when we are not sufficient on our own. He is still the God who works all things together for our good, even if it doesn’t look the way we expect it to."

FAITHFUL GIVING
We want to say thank you for your giving and partnership. YOUR GIVING MATTERS! Your faithful giving allows us to increasingly do the work of ministry for our members AND to everyone the Lord sends to us and sends us to.
2 Corinthians 9: 6-7 ESV
6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Malachi 3:10 ESV
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
You may give HERE.

Let’s walk in faith, fortitude, and fellowship—pressing forward together.
